These 100 percent semillon grapes were harvested from a small single block of 1000 vines. A process of wild fermentation was used to produce the Saartjie Semillon, therefore no commercially produced yeast was added. This ensures that the primary and secondary flavours are true to its form, straight from the grapes. This guarantees a rich, well-balanced masterpiece. Pronounced citrus and floral notes are immediately evident with a subtle oaky finish. A beautifully balanced wine with a great textural mouth feel that offers an aging potential of 5 years and more.

This is most certainly one of the world’s most underrated grapes yet capable of making some of its most delicious dry whites, Semillon isn’t on the radar for many. With its’ fresh, zesty taste, the Saartjie Semillon is best suited to spicy dishes like Indian curries and hot Asian food. Furthermore, like most white wines, the Saartjie Semillon is also best enjoyed when paired with white meat and fish. Due to the versatile characteristics, one can easily pair it with delectable sushi, clams, and oysters, especially with an Asian dressing.
